2012年にAndrew Taggart (アンドリュー・タガート)とAlex Pall (アレックス・ポール) によってアメリカ・ニューヨークで結成されたDJデュオ。2016年の楽曲“Closer ft. Halsey”が全米シングルチャート1位に輝き、2017年に楽曲“Don’t Let Me Down ft. Daya”で『第59回グラミー賞』最優秀ダンスレコーディング賞を受賞した。

『Memories Do Not Open』は、The Chainsmokersにとって初となるフルアルバム。Coldplayとコラボレーションした新曲“Something Just Like This”をはじめとする全12曲を収めるほか、日本盤には“Closer ft. Halsey”“Roses ft. ROZES”“Don’t Let Me Down ft. Daya”がボーナストラックとして収録される。

It was the night of the @thechainsmokers PreGrammy Turn Up party and I went over to Drews prior to the party to meet with Alex and Drew and told them I couldn’t commit to their tour because I was going to chase a personal dream of mine. Hardest decision I’ve ever had to make, actually having tears run down my face as I type this, I felt like I was letting my best friends down. They gave me a creatively free platform to create visuals for them that allowed me to produce some crazy tour videos to game changing lyric videos that have since been tried to be copied. The past two years they helped change my life and blow up my career. They taken me around the world, they’ve given me their couches to sleep on because I’m afraid of being alone, so the thought of letting them down puts me on an emotional rollercoaster. They asked me to do a video for Young and I was like I got a great idea, my team said I didn’t have time to make it and I said I’ll make time. Thank you to their Moms, for the old photos, @eneskolenovic @adamalpert @akams47 for tracking photos from before I met them, @danilolewis for his amazing photos (almost as good as Dougie 😉), @lucas_taggart for footage, @chrisyoder for photo and video, @thatoneblondkid for footage and filling in for me at times so I can chase a dream, @olav for the photos and for the ending photo that he took in a semi trailer, and HBOs Wizard Of Lies for the inspiration for the end. Really proud of this one. Thank you @alexpall and @drewtaggart for never asking me to explain my work before making and just letting me do my thing. I’m always gonna play a part in helping u guys in anyway I can. Love you both. If I forgot anyone I’m sorry I suck !
